Sodium Citrate Dihydrate is a sodium salt of citric acid which is known to have mild tart flavor and is most commonly used in food processing industry as preservative & flavoring agent. It has chemical formula Na3C6H5O7 with molar mass of 294.10 g/mol. Appears as white crystalline powder, it is also used as acidity regulator or buffering agent with ability to resist change in pH. In medical industry, this compound is widely utilized as an anticoagulant for blood. Sodium Citrate Dihydrate is also administered for providing relief from urinary tract infections and as an antacid before anesthesia.
