Magnesium Chloride Hexahydrate is widely utilized for stabilizing soil and mitigating wind erosion. It serves as support for catalyst used for production of polyolefins and also for de-icing highways & sidewalks. This compound has chemical formula MgCl2 with molecular weight of 203.31 g/mol and density of 1.569 g/cm3. It is soluble in water and has high boiling & melting points of 1412 & 117 degrees Celsius. This powder is also considered as main precursor to Mg metal and is used in pharmaceutical & neutraceutical preparations as well. Magnesium Chloride Hexahydrate is also applied to roads for dust control and can be extracted from sea water or brine.
