Calcium Fluoride finds its most common use in manufacturing of glass & lenses, in thermal imaging systems, and spectroscopy. It is known to have chemical formula CaF2 with molecular weight of 78.07 g/mol and high boiling point of 2533 degrees Celsius. This compound appears as white colored crystalline solid with little solubility in water & insolubility in acetone. With melting point of 1418 C, it shows density of 3.18 g/cm3 with low refractive index. Calcium Fluoride is also used for formulation of hydrofluoric acid and as window material for UV & IR radiations.
